Big science

Big Science is scientific research that requires massive capital investment but is expected to yield very significant results. Big Science projects may last decades and require international collaboration between scientists, states and companies.

Some of the Big Science projects currently under way include, for example, the construction on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the ITER fusion reactor project.
